Invitation App Comparison

GuestlistOnline
vs Partiful

Social invites with text-message RSVPs vs an organiser platform with door operations. Which one fits your event?

Free up to 50 guests
Free plan: no credit card
Free events: no fees
Short answer

Partiful is free, ad-free and has the best text-message RSVP loop for social hosts, but ticketing is US-only with a fee it does not publish (its own example is a $112 ticket paying out $100), the interface is English-only, and there is no offline door scanning or promoter attribution. GuestlistOnline is for organisers who need those: offline QR check-in, promoters with commissions, seven languages and EU hosting, with free events free and paid tickets at 5% + €0.25 including processing.

Key differences

What sets them apart

The details that matter when choosing between the two.

Offline door scanning

GuestlistOnline's scanner is a PWA that installs on any iOS or Android phone without an app store. It downloads the guest list before doors open, scans locally when the venue has no signal, and syncs the results back afterwards. Partiful scans QR codes in its mobile app on ticketed events and does not publish an offline mode, so a basement club or a field with one bar of signal is a risk you carry.

Promoter attribution

GuestlistOnline gives every promoter their own link, counts the guests who arrive through it and calculates the commission you owe. Partiful has promo codes and a host rewards programme, but it does not attribute guests to the person who brought them, so a nightlife or agency workflow has to be rebuilt in a spreadsheet.

Seven languages and EU hosting

GuestlistOnline runs in seven languages and is hosted in the EU. Partiful is English only and processes data in the US; its privacy policy of 19 August 2026 states it does not sell personal data but does share it with advertising partners for advertising. For a Dutch, German or French guest list, or an event with a DPA to satisfy, that difference decides it.

Where Partiful wins: the text layer

Partiful invites and RSVPs happen over text message, with automatic reminders, 10 text blasts per event, comments, polls, a shared photo album and "invite your mutuals" for reach. It is free, ad-free and the guest experience is better than anything an email-first tool does. If that loop is what you need, Partiful is the right answer.

Fair is fair

When Partiful is the better choice

For a casual party where the guest experience is the point, Partiful is genuinely hard to beat.

  • House parties, birthdays and meetups where guests RSVP by text
  • You want comments, polls, a photo album and "invite your mutuals"
  • You never sell tickets, or you are a US host fine with a variable fee
  • English-only is fine and nobody needs to scan at the door
Migration

Switching from Partiful

Partiful exports the guest list as a CSV, including check-in status and the answers to your questionnaire. Import that file with the guest import and map the columns you want to keep.

What carries over

  • Guest names and email addresses
  • RSVP status and questionnaire answers if you map the columns on import
  • Check-in status from a past event, as a record

What doesn't

  • Your text-blast history and the SMS conversation with guests
  • Mutuals, the Explore listing and the comment wall
  • Partiful ticket QR codes — GuestlistOnline issues new ones
