GuestlistOnline
vs Humanitix
Not-for-profit ticketing that gives its profits to charity vs a guest list platform that hosts in the EU and never holds your money.
Humanitix is a not-for-profit ticketing platform — 100% of its profits from booking fees go to charity, free tickets are genuinely free with no cap, and the app scans offline with Tap to Pay at the door. The trade-offs: Humanitix holds your ticket money until after the event, hosts data in Australia with no EU option, has no invitation or approval flow, no SMS, a read-only API and no promoter commissions. In euros, its fee is 2.1% + €0.99 plus your own Stripe processing on top. GuestlistOnline charges nothing on free events, 5% + €0.25 per paid ticket with processing included, pays out to your own Stripe account as tickets sell, and is hosted in the EU with offline check-in, promoter commissions and seven languages.
Feature comparison
An honest look at how the two platforms compare.
| Feature | GuestlistOnline | Humanitix |
|---|---|---|
| Costs & payouts | ||
| Fee per paid ticket (EUR) | 5% + €0.25 per ticket, payment processing included | 2.1% + €0.99 platform fee, plus your own Stripe processing charged separately — Humanitix requires your own Stripe account for EUR sales |
| Free tickets and free events | No fees on free events, on every plan including the free one | Free tickets are "Nothing. Nada. Zero." — no cap, and comps, manual orders, bulk CSV uploads and the cash box office are also free |
| Subscription | Free plan (1 event, 50 guests), €19.99 for a single event, €29/month or €249/year on Pro | No plans or subscriptions — a per-ticket fee only, with Standard, Charities & Schools and Custom tiers |
| Who holds the money | Neither of us: payouts go to your own Stripe Connect account as the tickets sell | For AUD/USD/NZD/GBP, Humanitix is the merchant of record and holds the funds: eligible 2 business days after the event, paid within 5; EUR and other currencies route through your own Stripe instead |
| Payment methods | Stripe Connect, including iDEAL, cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay | Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Afterpay/Zip buy-now-pay-later through the Humanitix gateway, or your own Stripe for EUR/CAD/FJD/MXN |
| Markets and currencies | Euro, US dollar and pound sterling; the per-ticket fee is charged in the ticket currency | AU, NZ, US, CA, UK and Fiji, with USD, AUD, NZD, GBP, CAD, FJD and MXN — EUR sales need your own Stripe account |
| Guest list & RSVP | ||
| Guest import | CSV import with names, email addresses and mapped columns | Bulk CSV upload from a template, capped at 2,000 tickets per upload, plus manual orders — neither is charged |
| Custom questions | Custom questions on the registration page | Checkout questions: dropdown, multi-select, text, checkbox, file upload and date, with conditional logic |
| Plus-ones | Plus-ones with names and your own wording on the registration page | Handled through group tickets rather than a dedicated plus-one field |
| Waitlist | Capacity limit that closes registration when full, plus guest approval | Automated waitlist built in, alongside ticket groups and seat maps |
| Invitations, RSVP and approval | Invitation emails, an RSVP page with yes/no answers, custom questions, reminders and optional approval before a ticket is issued | Free registration tickets work as an RSVP, but there is no native invite or approval flow — Humanitix's own workaround is hidden ticket types with access codes — and reminder emails are not automatic |
| Promoter tracking | Promoter links with commissions and per-promoter reporting | Affiliate tracking links for attribution only — no commission calculation or payouts |
| Check-in & door | ||
| Offline check-in | PWA scanner on iOS and Android, installed without an app store, scans with no signal and syncs afterwards | The "Humanitix for Hosts" app downloads the guest list while online, then scans offline and syncs later — a native iOS/Android app rather than a browser install |
| Several scanners at once | Multiple scanner devices on the same guest list, synced live, with door-staff access tokens | Multiple devices with scan-only access |
| Box office and in-person payments | Not offered | In-app box office with Tap to Pay for cards, for USD/AUD/NZD/GBP, at 3% + $1 per in-person sale |
| Branding & communication | ||
| Branding and white-label | Custom branding from Per Event (€19.99); full white-label on Enterprise | Styled event pages with Canva integration, an embedded checkout widget and redirect — white-label and a custom domain are not published, and events sit on events.humanitix.com |
| Public marketplace listing | Not available — private events only | Events are listed on the Humanitix public marketplace by default |
| Messaging | Email invitations, reminders and templates, in 7 languages — no SMS blasts | Free email campaigns with scheduling and targeting; SMS is not native, and push is not published |
| Platform | ||
| Team roles | 6 roles, up to 5 team members on Per Event and 50 on Pro | Per-user permissions — full access, event-specific toggles, or scanning-only — but no named roles |
| Languages | 7 languages in the dashboard, the emails and the registration pages | Not published; Humanitix ships country editions in English rather than translated languages |
| Data hosting | Hosted in the EU, GDPR-compliant | Data hosted in AWS Sydney, Australia, aligned to the Australian Privacy Principles and UK GDPR, and PCI DSS compliant — no EU hosting option |
| API and integrations | REST API and webhooks on Enterprise | A public REST API that is read-only, no native webhooks, plus Mailchimp, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zapier, Meta Pixel, GTM, GA4 and Canva integrations |
| Export | CSV import and export of guests, RSVPs, answers and check-in status | CSV and PDF exports, plus the read-only API |
| Best for | Organisers running invitations, guest lists, promoters and the door, in several countries and currencies | AU/NZ/US/UK/CA public paid events wanting a marketplace listing, seat maps, buy-now-pay-later, merchandise, a box office and charity positioning |

Humanitix also publishes AUD, NZD and GBP tiers; the fee is passed to the buyer by default but a host can absorb, split, or let buyers "tip" it.
What you pay on 200 × €25 tickets (€5,000 gross)
EUR rate from the Humanitix Help Centre pricing article. Processing is charged by your own Stripe account, which Humanitix requires for EUR sales — Humanitix does not publish a specific EUR Stripe rate, so no processing extra is added to the worked example.
Assumes one ticket per order and no VAT differences. Both platforms charge nothing on free tickets.
What sets them apart
The details that matter when choosing between the two.
A charity, not a company
Humanitix is a not-for-profit: Humanitix Limited is an ACNC-registered Australian charity with a US 501(c)(3) and an NZ trust, and it states 100% of its profits from booking fees go to charity — A$20.8M donated so far. If giving back is part of why you pick a ticketing platform, that is a genuine point in its favour that GuestlistOnline, a commercial product, does not match.
Payouts: held until after the event, vs settling as you sell
For its main currencies, Humanitix is the merchant of record and holds the funds — eligible 2 business days after the event and paid within 5. GuestlistOnline never touches the money: Stripe Connect settles into your own account as tickets sell. If you need takings before doors open, that is a real constraint on Humanitix's side, and EUR sellers get a further complication — they need their own Stripe account, with Humanitix's 2.1% + €0.99 platform fee added on top of whatever Stripe charges.
Where Humanitix wins at the door: offline scanning and Tap to Pay
The "Humanitix for Hosts" app downloads the guest list while online, then scans with no signal and syncs afterwards — matching GuestlistOnline's offline PWA scanner — and Humanitix adds an in-app box office with Tap to Pay for card sales at the door (3% + $1), plus automated waitlists, ticket groups and seat maps. GuestlistOnline has no box office or reserved seating.
Hosting, languages, promoters and the API
Humanitix hosts data in AWS Sydney, Australia, aligned to UK GDPR but with no EU hosting option, does not publish supported languages beyond English country editions, offers only attribution links for promoters with no commission calculation, and its public REST API is read-only with no native webhooks. GuestlistOnline is hosted in the EU, runs in 7 languages, calculates promoter commissions per link, and exposes a full REST API with webhooks on Enterprise. Humanitix also has no invitation or approval flow and no native SMS.
When Humanitix is the better choice
If you run public paid events in Australia, New Zealand, the US, UK or Canada and want a marketplace listing with a charitable story, Humanitix is a strong pick.
- Public ticketed events that benefit from listing on the Humanitix marketplace
- You want seat maps, an automated waitlist, merchandise and a box office with Tap to Pay in one platform
- Buy-now-pay-later (Afterpay/Zip) and PayPal matter to your buyers
- Giving 100% of platform profits to charity is part of your decision
- You sell mainly in AUD, USD, NZD or GBP rather than EUR
Switching from Humanitix
Humanitix exports attendee data as CSV or PDF, and its public API is read-only. Export the CSV and import it into GuestlistOnline, mapping names, email addresses and any checkout question answers you want to keep.
What carries over
- Guest names and email addresses from the CSV export
- Ticket type and order details, mapped on import
- Answers to checkout questions, mapped to custom questions or tags
- Check-in status, as the exported record of who arrived
What doesn't
- Held funds: Humanitix pays out after the event, while GuestlistOnline settles to your own Stripe account as tickets sell
- Seat maps, ticket groups, the automated waitlist and the in-app box office
- The public marketplace listing and the events.humanitix.com event page
- Affiliate attribution links — GuestlistOnline replaces them with promoter links that calculate commissions
