What is strict scanning and when should I use it?
Short answer
With strict scanning on, every person must scan their own QR code. Door staff can no longer admit companions from the main guest's code. Turn it on from the event's Check-in page when each ticket must be checked individually, for example with paid or numbered tickets.
Default behaviour
By default the scanner works per party. When the main guest's code is scanned, the whole group appears with a checkbox per person and a Check In All button. That is fast for guest lists where a host brings friends.
Strict scanning
Switch it on when every guest has their own ticket and you want each one scanned:
- Open your event and go to Check-in.
- Turn on Strict scanning.
- The scanner picks up the setting within a minute, also on devices that are already open.
In strict mode the party list stays visible so staff can see who belongs together, but the individual check-in buttons and "Check In All" are replaced by a note that the person's own QR code is required. The server refuses party check-ins as well, so the rule holds even on an outdated device.

- Searching a guest by name and checking them in manually.
- Companions with their own email have their own QR code and scan normally.
Make sure companions have codes
Strict scanning only makes sense when companions receive their own tickets. In the RSVP editor, require an email address per companion so each one gets a QR email.

- Yes. Scanners reload the setting automatically; a device that is offline picks it up when it reconnects.
- What happens to companions without an email?
- They have no code of their own. Door staff can still admit them by name search, which is recorded as a manual check-in.
